Insights
We have witnessed certain relaxations on the GST portal on account of technical glitches. While the GSTN is prompt in issuing advisories, the taxpayers have reported lag and glitches in the working of the portal. On this account, GSTN has reached out privately to the taxpayers where some data saved vs filed are not in sync and therefore these taxpayers are advised to revisit their filed returns and make changes. It is advised to the taxpayers to instruct their compliance teams to regularly monitor for any notification or emails received from GSTN in order to take the action against any errors arising on the GST portal.
Further, the date of GSTR 1 for monthly filers had also been extended by a day to compensate for the portal absenteeism. It is assumed that these glitches are on account of new functionalities and experimentations being done on the portal by the GSTN along with its technical teams. Off late, auto population of the HSN summary in GSTR 1 from the e-invoicing portal has also been activated on the portal.
